SHEro Series: Jan Fields

Jan Fields (1955- ) began her career working in a McDonald's restaurant in 1978 and, over the next 35 years, worked her way up the corporate ladder until she was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Fields served in that C-suite position for 4 years, until she was appointed President of McDonald's USA in 2010.

Fields has been named to Forbes’ list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business list, and The Wall Street Journal’s 50 Women to Watch list, among other recognition. Since showcasing her skills as a leader and loyal employee with McDonald's, Fields has focused her energies towards service on corporate boards, currently working with Chico's, the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and others.

Jan Fields is one of our SHEroes because she is an excellent example of how much impact a woman can have within a company, and is proof that a woman starting in an entry level role has the potential to eventually run the company.

Our SHEro: Jan Fields. She started as an entry level employee at McDonalds in 1978 and climbed the ladder for over 30 years until she was President of McDonalds in 2019. She currently serves on several Boards, including Chico's and Ronald McDonald House.
