Get to know...Earth Tu Face
Welcome to our new blog series - Get to know... - where we invite you to learn more about the amazing companies that make up our SHE Certified Community™. The first feature highlights a brand new SHE Certified company, Earth Tu Face, a skincare company that prioritizes their impact on your body and the planet. We had their founder, Sarah, answer some questions that dive deep into their products and purpose. Check it out below!
"Woman owned and operated, we are a small team of four with a passion for small batches and small carbon footprints." - Sarah, Founder of Earth Tu Face
Earth Tu Face is a nature inspired skincare company made and based in California. Our formulas are original, created and tested by us, on us — never on animals. All of our products have an emphasis on organic ingredients, zero waste packaging and ethical plant populations sourced by us. We make much of the line in small handmade batches weekly in our Apothecary. We make products that work and try to think of second order effects on the planet with the goodness we create.
What is your mission as a company?
We believe that what is good for the earth is good for us. We look to the circular nature of ecosystems which makes them incredibly resilient. We are forever inspired by nature both from a sustainability perspective and also from an interdependent community perspective. The truth is that life on Earth is part of a closed system and creating something solid necessitates sustainability at its core. This is good for everyone in the system. Our mission, if it is possible in today's world, is to create products that are regenerative and nourishing to people and the planet, rather than extractive and depleting.

A forever favorite is our Skin Stick. It is an herbal multi-stick for face, lips, and body offering protective moisture boosted with healing botanicals. This smooth botanical salve is housed in a 100% compostable tube.

A personal favorite of mine is our gooey Honey Mask. It is a fusion of antioxidant-rich raw honey and virgin coconut oil, boosted with ground garden flowers (we grow and hand harvest these in our California garden!) and botanical oils to plump, purify, and rejuvenate skin. I use our Face Wash, Rose + Aloe Toner and Face Balm every day (links below). I am happy to say we are working on several new babies that have also become staples in my daily routine.

Which SHE marks have you been certified for?
We have been certified for SHEowns™, SHEruns™, and SHEmakes™!
Why are you proud to be a woman-owned/run/creatively-led company?
Woman owned and operated, we are a small team of four with a passion for small batches and small carbon footprints. Collaborating between women is often beautiful and easeful. There is a free flowing exchange of ideas and both independence and interdependence. I find accessing that magic in the workplace easier between women.
In what ways other than gender equity do you think your company is making the world a better place?
We run campaigns throughout the year that give a portion of our sales back to organizations focused on environmental and social justice. During the month of June we donated a portion of sales to the Trevor Project in celebration of Pride.
We are committed to fostering a workplace that's diverse and safe for all.
Living Wage: We pay a living wage, offering stable employment and keeping a small team of women employed.
We prioritize compostable and recyclable packaging with as little plastic as possible.
We do not use endangered plant populations or palm oil.
We prioritize organic ingredients and sustainable agricultural practices.
