SHE Certified Spotlight: Asian Women Owned & Run Businesses

As of 2019, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander women-owned businesses made up 9.3% of majority women-owned businesses in the United States. (American Express, “The 2019 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report.” September 2019) Unfortunately, COVID has had some of the "harshest economic effects" on this sector of the US population, "including shuttered businesses, significant job losses, increased caregiving responsibilities, and much more. On top of economic distress, AAPI women have experienced alarming surges in racialized violence and harassment fueled by derogatory rhetoric and scapegoating of the AAPI community throughout the pandemic." (Center for American Progress, “The Economic Status of Asian American and Pacific Islander Women.” March 2021). AAPI women in business need our support now, more than ever!

In honor of May being AAPI Heritage Month, The SHE Mark is highlighting the Asian women owned & run businesses in our SHE Certified Community so that you can celebrate and support them this month and year round.
